Rabbit Holes:

Because of some original design goals in MELEE, modifying the "body" of
an email is not done. Which is why you see strange characters when the
senders encoding does not match the actual emails or encoding gets
mixes. The goal for that was the ability to do some GPG/PGP signing and
encryption for some other lists which needs that body to be untainted.

When a sender sends JUST Plain Text, you'll see additional info added.
Otherwise, the mail client reading the email effectively strips it
because you see either the text or html block of the original message,

In some mail clients, and why I have a few email addresses on this list,
you can view headers/source easily and see the plain text block before
the MIME encoded blocks of text and HTML. In some, you can't.

So either: RD and a few other people using protonmail and such view
headers for the original sender, or the list does what others do:
strip, reformat, modify and then send the altered body as MIME encoded
blocks of text and html (same plain text, but wrapped with some HTML)
and toss the ability for the list to sign and encrypt. I'll keep that
for the other lists. Option B: We go old school and sign our emails
ourselves.

Email sucks.. Email is awesome.. and Email sucks.
